Description

In the lecture/performance 'Along the Lines', Eva Karczag and Bettina Neuhaus invite the audience to an interactive encounter: they share personal narratives of key moments, encounters and experiences that shaped their individual histories and were decisive in directing the trajectory of their artistic journeys. In doing so, they create a multidirectional spatial map of the branching constellations and reveal the multidimensional nature of their paths. These took place in the historical context of post-Judsonian dance and reflect the individual methodologies of both artists, which became the core of their practice through the continuous involvement of various somatic techniques and approaches.

The photographs, books, recordings and objects placed in the space flesh out different points in the timeline of their past – each a key to a particular memory or story. Karczag and Neuhaus reveal the network of intersections that enabled the flow of inspiration and knowledge between places, people and times. Before and after the lecture, the audience can explore the installation in their own time.

4pm - 10pm lecture works as an instalation in the theatre space

Since 2009, Karczag and Neuhaus have been collaborating on performance projects, lectures and co-teaching workshops.

For over 30 years, Instant Composition in performance and the collaboration with dancers, musicians, visual artists and light designers have been at the heart of her work. Her artistic passion centers especially around the narratives and poetry which unfold in the interplay between dance, live music and language, revealing aspects of our human condition. Since 2010, inspired by her growing interest in human ecology, she has been developing a movement practice in natural environments. She shares these in projects and special workshops. Bettina teaches Instant Composition and SRT at independent studios, art academies and universities in Europe and South America. www.bettinaneuhaus.com
